After our treehouse stay in Balete, we headed for Panglao Island to start my open water diving course! Panglao is one of the top destinations in Philippines for its underwater scene and dive spots. From Balete, we took a bus to Manila Airport and thereafter, a 1.5hr flight over to Tagbilaran Airport. From Tagbilaran airport, we were picked up by our lovely airbnb host who drove us to Panglao Island. Our accommodation was lovely watch tower surrounded by natural tropical rainforest, and on the top most floor, you can enjoy amazing 360 degrees panoramic views stretching out to the horizon of Momo beach. Here, we could cook and do our laundry as well - so it was perfect! We rented a motorbike from our airbnb host too to get to and fro the dive centre everyday, and it was such a delight to bike through this beautiful island.
And back to diving... As you guys know, Eduard is a dive instructor and of course it was unacceptable if his girlfriend was certified by someone else haha! So what we did was contact a few dive centers to ask if they could make a special arrangement for us for Eduard to instruct and certify me while doing the course with them. And finally, we decided on Philippines Fun Divers and we had a co-instructor Rex Pumon from the dive centre, really nice and funny guy! We did the course over 4 days and I passed!! (And nope, Eduard did not cut me any slack at all, but he did give me my first underwater kiss) In any case, diving in Panglao Island was incredible... stunning coral reefs and so much marine life with great visibility.
During our stay on Panglao Island, we also visited Dumaluan beach and was rewarded with a gorgeous sunset. And if you are looking to end off the day with a romantic dinner, head over to Giuseppe Pizzeria!
And from Panglao Island, it's really easy to do a daytrip to Bohol - post coming up soon :)
