This April, we flew to Maldives and had the most beautiful escapade of our lives, no doubt about it. We were hosted by Makunudu Island on courtesy of Tigerair for 3 nights; and our accommodation was a stylish beach bungalow literally just steps away from the clearest waters. There's definitely a special touch to Makunudu Island, with its lush vegetation and chill vibes...
When you think that things can't get any better, Toni Chan (founder of August Society) generously provided me with the swim pieces for the entire trip. August Society is a Singaporean swimsuit brand, and what I love the most is knowing that their swim pieces are all made of top quality Italian-made fabric which is recyclable and sustainable. Toni herself designs and creates all of her own prints, and honestly I am really loving all of them - whether it's a cute seafoam print bikini or a tropical print one piece swimsuit. However when it comes to swimwear, ultimately the most important thing for me is comfort. The last thing I want is to struggle with my swimsuit underwater, having to adjust it every few minutes, or worrying all the time about accidental exposure. In this aspect, August Society has done a really good job by taking care of the details such as having adjustable straps, fully lined cups with removable padding to provide that extra support, plus their fabric is UV protecting and shape retaining. We all know how some bikinis fit when it's dry BUT when you hit the water, the fit is... no longer a fit? Now, you can throw all these worries to the wind!
This is the reversible seafoam print two piece bikini from August Society's latest collection and over here, I am wearing a XS for the top and S for the bottom (as I have a thicker waist). So guess what, this is actually my first ever high neck bikini top and yes it's a thumbs up! Being an avid swimmer (plus I love snorkeling and diving), almost all of my bikinis are bandeau tops with a clasp because I feel that it's generally more secure than a tie string bikini top. But turns out this high neck bikini top is reinforced with elastic bands to give support and hold its shape - fitting me snugly even underwater. I literally swam and snorkeled every single day in Maldives with it. Plus the high neck design meant that I don't have to worry about my uneven boob size or accidental exposure!
Eduard was quite jealous when he saw this rash guard. Being a dive instructor, he's always wanted one for himself hehe. Having a rash guard is really useful when you snorkel a lot or dive in tropical waters, because it really helps protect you from the sun. Guess whose back was burnt at the end of our trip? ;)
Coming back from Maldives, I couldn't stop raving about the pieces to my friends, and I am definitely wearing them for my entire summer in Spain. Also, August Society has a greeaaat return policy and I really mean it. When it comes to clothing, I am one of those shoppers who prefers to try everything on physically at the shop and making sure it fits me to the T before making the purchase. But with August Society, you can make the purchase online and then have 14 days from the date your swim pieces arrive to try them out, do the jiggle test, AND if the size doesn't quite fit or you kind of changed your mind about the design, you can always return them (of course in good condition and all tags intact). Sounds awesome, doesn't it??!! This is also perfect if you want to buy something as a present for someone else. Plus, all customers in Singapore enjoy free delivery and returns by courier; while international orders above SGD 150 enjoy free shipping!
You can find August Society both online and at selected stocklists in South East Asia.
